Session 2: HW 1: Creating Characters wkst and 5 story ideas

1. Complete the character worksheet with your future novel in mind. Think carefully about who might make an interesting protagonist (main character) and who would make great supporting characters (the main character's friends).  Who will give the protagonist problems? This is the antagonist (like an evil villain).  Describe the antagonist.

2. Now, write or type 5 ideas for a short novel you could write.  For each idea, write at least 3 sentences describing what might happen in the story.

For example:

1. I could write about a girl who goes on a trip to Paris with her family and gets lost. She is 15-years-old. She ends up exploring Paris and having a great adventure.

2. I could write about a boy who hates hot dogs more than anything, but he also loves money more than anything. He then learns his school is having a huge hot dog eating competition and the grand prize is $500. Will he join the competition?

Creative Project for "Wonder" due Friday in class

Your HW all week is to work on your creative project.

Your project must meet the following expectations:
1. Show effort
2. Be interactive
3. Teach your classmates about the book

HW 21: "Wonder" pages 236-260, complete Pt. 7 POV wkst

You will read Part 7: Miranda's section and the beginning of Part 8: August's section.  Complete only Part 7 (5 important events) on the POV worksheet you have been filling out.

HW 20: Read "Wonder" pages 206-234, complete POV wkst Pt. 6

Decide whether this new section by August is in 1st, 2nd or 3rd person point-of-view, and then record 5 important things that you learn from this section.

HW 19: IRP week 4 (RATETE worksheet and typed paragraphs)

Complete the RATETE handout from class, following the sentence starters carefully. Then type your IRP week 4 response. You should have two paragraphs.

HW #18 Read "Wonder", Justin's section, pp. 187-204 and complete POV wkst

Also, we will have a grammar quiz on Point of View (POV) and pronouns. Use the two grammar worksheets from this week to help review.
